“İşte o günden beri ben ağlayamam, ağlamak istesem de bilmem ki neden, gözlerimden yaş gelmiyor!”

93 Harbi denen 1878 Türk-Rus savaşında Balkanlardan kaçan bir göç kafilesi içinde lohusa bir kadın vardır.

Kuyunun çıkrığını çeviren adam kovanın içinde bir bebek olduğunu görür. Bu genç, kadının erkek kardeşidir. Bu bebek, bir süre önce mücevher çıkını yerine kuyuyu atılan bebektir.
Genç adam kardeşinin 40 günlük yavrusunu bağrına basar. Biraz sonra öndeki kafileye yetişir ve acılı anne çocuğuna kavuşur.
