Gaziemir ilçemizin adı 1963 yılına kadar Seydiköy idi. Burası Seyyid Mükerremüddin külliyesinin vakıf arazisi idi. İzmir’de bugün Emir Sultan diye bilinen türbedeki zatın zaviyesi için Gazi Umur bey tarafından vakfedilmiştir.
Seydiköy’de zamanla yerleşim çoğaldı. 1600’ün başlarında nüfus tamamen Türk’tür. Bu yıllardan itibaren İzmirli Levantenler ve Rumlar da yerleşmeye başladı. Bu durum 1922’ye kadar devam etti.
1908’de Seydiköy’de toplam 13 bin 806 kişi yaşamaktaydı. Bunun 6 bin 651’i, müslüman, 7 bin 145’i gayr-ı müslim idi.
Lozan Antlaşması gereği yapılan mübadele ile Rumlar Yunanistan’a gitti. Onların yerine Yunanistan ve Balkan ülkelerinden gelen Türkler yerleşti.
BİLİMSEL KİTAP
Yerel yöneticiler bir ölçüde beldelerinin tarih ve kültürleriyle de ilgilenirler. Bu konularda kitap ve araştırmalar yayımlarlar. Bu yayınlar çok defa o sıradaki yönetim ve partinin zihniyet ve dünya görüşünü yansıtırlar. Burada 3 Seydiköy kitabından söz edeceğim.
İlk kitabın adı Seydiköy’den Gaziemir’e Bir Kentleşme Süreci.” Üç tarihçi akademisyen yazmış: Cahit Telci, Hasan Mert, Turan Gökçe.
Kitap 2003’te sadece 750 adet basılmış. Ben DEÜ Merkez Kütüphanesi’nden fotokopi yaptırarak edindim. Gaziemir Belediyesi kültür yayını. O sırada Belediye Başkanı İsmet Kılıç (1945-2013). Geçtiğimiz Aralıkta vefat eden İsmet Kılıç 14 yıldan fazla Gaziemir Belediye Başkanlığı yaptı. Bunun iki dönemi AP, birer dönemi DYP ve DSP şapkasıyla oldu.
Kitabın takdim yazısında İ. Kılıç şöyle diyor: “Bu coğrafyayı vatan yapan Gazi Umur Bey, İsmir’in kapılarını ilk önce bu topraklardan geçerek açmıştı. Onun bağışladığı toprakları şenlendiren ise Seyyid Mükerremeddin olmuştu. Şimdi ikisinin adı da Seydiköy ve Gaziemir olarak yaşamaya devam ediyor.”
Kitap tamamen arşiv belgelerine dayalı bilgiler veriyor. Milli Mücadele ve Seydiköy, Mübadele ve Seydiköy, Ekonomik Hayat, Eğitim gibi bölümlere sahip. 300 sayfalık, bilimsel, ciddi bir yayın. Çok iyi bir baskısı var.
BULANIK KİTAP
2. kitap Geçmişten Günümüze Seydiköy Gaziemir adını taşıyor. Engin-Ercan Çokbankir imzalı. Bendeki baskısı 2010, 3. baskı. Gaziemir Belediyesi Kültür yayını. Şimdiki CHP’li başkan H. İbrahim Şenol’un bir takdim yazısı var. 125 sayfalık kitabın 45 sayfası İzmir’in Türk öncesi tarihine, Seydiköy Levantenleri ve Rumlarına ayrılmış.
Çokbankir Seydiköylü bir arkeolog. Beldesini seviyor. Onun için S. Mükerremüddin’in Seydiköy’de yattığında ısrarlı. Oysa kullandığı bir belgede bu zatın zaviyesinin “der nefs-i İzmir”, yani “İzmir’in içinde” olduğu açıkça yer alır. Kitap iyi kağıda basılı, fakat sayfa düzeni ve baskı amatörce.
Ercan Çokbankir iyi niyetli bir araştırmacı. Ancak Seydiköy kitabında İzmir’deki Türk öncesi döneme gereğinden fazla yer ayırmış. Oysa asıl konu Seydiköy’dür. Ayrıca buraya sonradan gelip yerleşen Levantenler ve Rumları öne çıkarmak isteyişi gözden kaçmamaktadır. (3. kitap Cumaya)
