Prof. Dr. Mehmet Demirci

Neyzen Tevfik (1880- 1953) Bodrum’da doğdu. Yedi yaşlarındayken bir kahvede dervişlerden dinlediği neyin sesine hayran kaldı. 1894 yılında babası Urla’ya tayini edildi. Tevfik, İzmir İdadisi’ne gönderilecektir. Ancak ciddi bir bir sinir krizi geçirir. İstanbul’da hastalığına çözüm bulmaya çalışılır. Tam teşhis konamaz, sar’a veya bayılma denir.

Urla’da tanıştığı Berber Kazım Ağa’dan ney dersi alır. Ailesi hastalığı sebebiyle ona şefkat gösterir, isteklerini yerine getirmeye çalışır. Biraz iyileşince İzmir İdadisi’ne yatılı olarak kaydettirilir. Ancak, disipline tahammül edemez, bir ay sonra okuldan atılır.

Kural tanımayan bir yapıya sahip olan Tevfik’in yolu İzmir Mevlevihanesi’ne düşer. Şeyh Nurettin Efendi ile tanışır. Neyzen Başı Cemal Bey’in öğrencisi olur. Buraya 4 yıl gelip gider. Edebî bilgisini ve zevkini geliştirir. Türkçe, Arapça ve Farsça dersleri alır. Ünlü şairlerin divanlarını okur. Şiirler yazar.

Mevlevihane’de ortam onun için sıkıcı gelmez. Sağlığı düzelir. Babasının isteğiyle tahsiline devam etmek için İstanbul’a gider. Yaşı 19’dur.

“Tercüme-i hâlim” adlı uzun bir şiiri vardır, burada özetle hayatını anlatır. Bu şiirin İzmir Mevlevihanesi’ni tasvir ettiği bölümünü ve ardından düzyazıya çevrilmiş şeklini sunuyoruz:

O yıl da böylece geçmişti sinni yirmisine

Takarrüb eyledi İstanbul’a hemen o sene.

Berây-ı ilm ü hüner tavsıyeyle yolladılar

Cenâb-ı Fâtihu’l-ebvâb kim bilir ne kılar?

Arkamda kederli bir mazi, önümde üzüntülü bir gelecek vardı. Şu hale bak, medet ey kalplere çare bulan, diyerek, elsiz ayaksız, yani çaresiz bir şekilde Mevlevi Dergahı’na düştüm. Yolunu şaşırmış olan bana tarikatin piri göründü.

Bu zat, en büyük mürşid, yani yol gösterici olan Şeyh Nureddin’dir. Kendisi irfan meclisinin ta içinde sağlam yeri olan biridir.

Onunla karşılaşınca bende soru cevap kalmadı, endişelerim dağıldı. Bana dedi ki: “Biraderimi gör, hiç durma hemen meşke, ney öğrenimine başla.”

Biraderim dediği, kardeşi Cemal Efendi idi. Kendisi Mevlevihanenin birinci neyzeniydi.

Tam bir coşkuyla Şeyh Nujreddin’in emrini kendisine bildirdim. O da beni kabul etti. Kendimden geçercesine hissettiğim bir arzu ve istekle işe başladım.

Üstadımın eteğine sarılıp elini öptüm. Neyzen başı Cemal Efendi’nin kapısına canımı ve başımı vakfetmeye karar verdim.

Böylece bana neyzenlik hünerine ait hazinenin feyiz kapısı açıldı ve ömrümün derbederlik perdesi kapanmış oldu.

Birkaç ay notayla meşk etmeye devam ettim. Hatta başımda Mevlevi külahı olduğu halde sema yaptım, elimde neyle mutrip heyetine girdim.

Hz. Pir Mevlana’nın bana olan feyzinin en açık delili şu ki bir sene geçmeden vezinli kafiyeli şiir söylemeye başladım.

Gönlümdeki heves az çok ağzıma ve kalemime ulaştı. Muktebes adlı dergide çıkan gazeller yazdım.

İzmir’de birçok ileri gelen kimseyle tanıştım. Uzun süre büyüklerin toplantılarında bulundum. Şâir Eşref, Abdülhalim Mmemduh, Tokadizâde Şekip, Bıçakçızâde Hakkı, Tevfik Nevzad ve Rûhi Baba bunlardandır.

Tekke’de bu irfan sahibi kimselere hizmet ettim. İşte böylece bu yolda insan arasına karışmış oldum.

Bir gece çok garip bir rüya gördüm: ağzımdaki bütün dişler elime dökülmüştü. Hepsi sedef gibi parlak ve güzeldi. Herhangi bir acı da duymamıştım. Daha sonra pırıl pırıl aydınlık bir gökyüzü açıldı ve elimde tuttuğum ney fezâya uçup gitti. Ardı ardına gördüğüm bu rüyâ nedir diye merak ettim.

Doğruca dergâhtaki rehberim olan Halil Efendi’ye gittim, rüyamı anlattım. Halil Dede şöyle yorumladı: “Sen ileride üstün bir yere geleceksin; sözünle,sazınla ve Yazdıklarınla âdetâ alev saçacaksın.”

Babam haftada bir kere Urla’dan İzmir’e gelirdi. Eskiden derbeder bir hayat süren beni böyle görünce şaşar kalırdı.

Şeyh Nureddin Hazretlerine sonsuz niyazlarda bulunur ve şöyle derdi: “Efndim bu can, bu evlât benim değildir, artık senin kapına vakfedilmiştir. Kendisi Rüşdiye mektebinden ve biraz da benden öğrendikleriyle sadece okur yazar hale gelmişti, işi pek erken bıraktı. Bu yüzden tahsil devresi böyle basit kaldı. Geçmişteki durumu, talihi, zamanı ve muhiti pek müsait olmadı.”

Yıllar böylece geçti, yaşım yirmiye yaklaşınca hemen o sene beni ilim ve hüner elde etmem için babam İstanbul’a gönderdi. Kapıları açan Cenab-ı Hak kim bilir ne gösterir?
