“Bu ders biraz ihmal edilmiş. Yavaş yavaş ilgi artıyor. Dekanlar önem vermeye başladılar. Önce Dokuz Eylül Mühendislik’te başladım, çok başarılı oldu. Bu yıl Ege’de de veriyorum. Beni duygulandıran bir olay:
“Dersler bitti, final sınavı yapıyorum. Başta dedim ki: ‘Arkadaşlar, bitiren kağıdını verip çıkabilir. Ama isteyen kalsın, sonunda size bazı nasihatlerim olacak’ O yaştaki gençler öğüt dinlemekten hoşlanmaz. Ama hepsi kaldı. Bu beni çok mutlu etti.”

Başarı sırını şöyle açıklar: “Öğrenciyi mümkün olduğu kadar günlük olaylara yöneltirim. 40 yılı aşkın meslek hayatımda çok şey yaşadım, gördüm. Öğrenciye bu örneklerden anlatırım. Tam bam teline gelince sorarım: Siz olsanız ne yaparsınız?”

“Okulu bitirip maden mühendisi olmuşsunuz. İşinizden memnunsunuz. Nişanlandınız yakında evleneceksiniz. Yıl sonu geldi, Ankara’ya işletme raporu göndereceksiniz. Raporu hazırladınız, çalışmaları gösteren bir de harita eklemeniz lazım. Haritayı yaparken fark ediyorsunuz ki yer altında sahanızın dışına taşıp mal çıkarmışsınız. Bunun ağır para cezası olduğunu bildiğiniz için hemen patronu arıyor ve durumu anlatıyorsunuz. Patron da, haritayı yeniden düzenle, saha dışına çıktığımız görünmesin, diyor ve telefonu kapatıyor. Siz olsanız ne yaparsınız?”
