Bir evvelki yazıda insanın yapısından, madde-mana dengesinin zorluğundan söz ettik. Bireylerin ve cemaatlerin, hem ekonomik bakımdan güçlü olmaları, hem de sağlam bir dini duyarlığa (takvaya) sahip olmaları mümkün müdür diye sormuştuk.
İçinde bulunduğuımuz hayatın bir adı da “imtihan dünyası”dır. İmtihan kabaca mihnet, sıkıntı anlamına da gelir. Sözlükte ise “sınamak”, “bir şeyin hakikatini kavramak için gösterilen dikkat” demektir. Kur’an’da “Allah onların kalblerini takva ile imtihan etmiştir” (Hucurat 49/3) buyrulur.
En büyük imtihanlardan birisi dünya ve madde karşısındaki tutum ve tavırdır. Kur’an’da ve hadislerde dünya ve mala pek iyi gözle bakılmaz. Ama burada dünya ile kastedilen daha çok, aşırı istek ve arzular ve ileri derecede madde düküşkünlüğüdür.
Hz. Mevlana sorar ve cevabını verir: Dünya nedir? Dünya Allah’tan gafil olmaktır. Kumaş, para, ölçüp tartarak ticaret etmek ve kadın dünya değildir, der ve şu güzel örneği verir: Suyun gemi içinde olması geminin helakidir. Geminin altındaki su ise gemiye, geminin yüzmesine yardımcıdır.
Yani para, madde vücut gemimizin veya kalbimizin dışında olmalıdır. Onu amaç edinir, taparcasına önem verirsek, kalbimize yerleşir ve bizi manen öldürür. Paranın yeri kalp değildir.
Ölçü şu olmalıdır: İyi bir insan, iyi bir müslüman her türlü maddi, sınai, ticari faaliyet ve çalışmanın içinde bulunabilir, bulunmalıdır. Ancak hiçbir zaman mala, paraya, servete taparcasına bağlı olmamalıdır. Şüphesiz bu bir iç eğitimini gerektirir. Doğru din anlayışının, doğru dindarlığın önemi bu noktada karşımıza çıkar.
Yani ticaret yapma, çalışma, dünyayı terk et denmiyor, fakat bütün bunları yaparken asıl hedefi unutma, Cenab-ı Hak’la gönül bağını devam ettir. Her an O’nu hatırla, kendini O’nun huzurunda hisset, deniyor.
Gönül adamları bu anlayışı “el işte gönül Hak’ta olmak” veya “el karda gönül yarda olmak” şeklinde formüle etmişlerdir.
İşte bu oldukça zordur. Büyük bir ekonomik faaliyetin, dolayısıyla kavganın içine girenler, gün olur kurumun veya cemaatin menfaatiyle dini duyarlığı karıştırabilirler. Elleri iştedir, ama gönülleri ne kadar Hak ve hakikate bağlıdır bilinmez.
Gazali aşırı mal hırsı konusunda yılan oynatıcılarını örnek olarak gösterir. Yılan tehlikeli bir hayvandır, onda hem zehir hem de ilaç vardır. Yılanla ünsiyeti olmayan kimse ondan zehirlenir. Yılan terbiyecisinin, bu hayvanları bir sepet içinde topladığını gören çocuk, onlar yumuşak olduğu ve ele hoş geldiği için tutulduğunu sanıp kendisi de dokunmak ister, eliyle tutar ve yılanın sokması sonucu ölür.
Büyük boyutlu para ve ekonomik faaliyetler de böyledir. Çok sağlam bir manevi cihazlanmaya sahip olmayan kimselerin ve toplulukların zehirlenmesi mukadderdir.
