Hasan Basri Çantay (1887-1964) Kur’an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim adlı Kur’an tercümesiyle tanınan son devir din alimi. Balıkesir Mevlevihanesi’nde Ahmed Naci Dede’den Arapça okudu. Ayrıca edebiyat, hukuk ve felsefe ile meşgul oldu. I. Büyük Millet Meclisi’ne Balıkesir mebusu olarak girdi. Burada Burdur mebusu şair Mehmed Akif ile yakın arkadaş oldu.
İsmail Kara’nın “Dağ Ne Kadar Yüce Olsa” (Dergah yayını, 2020) adlı kitabından H. B. Çantay’la ilgili bir hatıra naklediyorum:

Enteresan bir husus daha var; Hasan Basri bey epeyice bir miktar eser ve yazı kaleme almasına rağmen, Kur’an mealindeki bazı işari tefsir dipnotları ve bazı şiirleri hariç tutulursa tasavvufi tarafını pek ele vermemiştir. Sadece oğlunun bastırdığı Babamın Şiirleri‘nin (İstanbul, 1964) son kısmı “Tasavvuf Özentileri” başlığını taşımaktadır.
Kendisinin aynı zamanda “halife” olduğu bilinir. (Halife: Tarikat mensupları arasında mürşit olmaya ve derviş yetiştirmeye manen ehliyet kazanmış olduğu için seçilen ve irşad görevi yapan kimse) Bu sebeple evine gelen hanım müridlerin çoğu kapalı veya çarşaflı, bir kısmı da başı açık olurmuş. Kapıyı ziyaretçilere açan kendi eşi kapalı kadınlar için “bir hanımefendi geldi”, başı açık olanlar için de “bir bayan geldi” der, hocaefendi de ona göre kendini hazırlarmış. Bu ifadeler Hasan Basri beyle eşi arasında anlaştıkları şifre gibi bir şeymiş…
HZ. PEYGAMBERİN İKAZI
Hocaefendi bir akşam rüyasında Hz. Peygamber Efendimizi görmüş ve hanımlar arasında böyle ayırım yapmasına gücenmiş bir eda ile kendisine “o ‘bayan’lar arasında öyle Allah dostları var ki!…” buyurmuş. Kan ter içinde uyanmış merhum. Hayretlere garkolmuş, ürpermiş, sonra “Hay Allah” deyip zar zor tebessüm de etmiş… Ama rüya peşini bırakmıyormuş; düşünmüş taşınmış, zevcesine anlatmış, yarı şaka yarı ciddi “şimdi ne yapacağız hanım?” diye de sormuş…
Akşam üzeri ziyarete gelen başı açık hanımlardan biri kapıyı tıklatmış, zevcesi kapıyı açıp eski tarz üzere “Efendi, bir bayan geldi” diye içeriye seslenince, rüya kendisine de malum olmuş olan ‘bayan’ mürit “Allah dostlarından biri geldi” deyin valide hanımefendim deyivermiş usulünce. Hasan Basri Bey de oturduğu yerde bu sözü duyunca hayret içinde rüyasını bir daha hatırlamış ve şaşmış; tedirgin bir şekilde kendini toparlayıp huzura gelecek “kalp gözü açık” bayan hanıma muntazır olmuş (beklemeye başlamış).
Huzura gelince ne olmuş, şeyh-mürit nasıl halleşmiş, rüyaya ne demişler bilmiyoruz ama hocaefendi ondan sonra sık sık “ben artık kimsenin başının örtüsüne, giyimine kuşamına karışmıyorum, dersimi aldım” der olmuş. O tarihten itibaren kapı protokolündeki hanım-bayan ayrımı da kalkmış tabii.
