İstanbul, yüksek tahsilimi yaptığım, çeşitli vesilelerle en sık gittiğim şehir. Bu defa bir Tv programı için oradaydım. İlk günü Üsküdar’da geçirdim. Her zamanki gibi kalabalık, ama bir “Ramazan maneviyeti” her yerde hissediliyor.
İkinci günü Beyazıt ve çevresinde idim. Beyazıt Meydanı’nın bir köşesindeki İstanbul Fetih Cemiyeti’ni ve az ilerde Çemberlitaş’ta Kubbealtı Vakfı’nı ziyaret ettim. Eski dostlarla görüşüp konuştum.
Asıl amacım Beyazıt Meydanı’ndaki Kitap Fuarı’nı gezmekti. Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı tarafından bir gelenek haline getirilen Kitap ve Kültür Fuarı’nın 32’ncisi burada açılmıştı. Ramazan ayının vazgeçilmez bir unsuru olan fuar 9 Temmuz-3 Ağustos arası açık.
Benzeri fuarlar İstanbul Ataşehir Mimar Sinan Camii avlusunda, Bursa Emir Sultan’da, Konya’da ve Ankara Kocatepe Camii avlusunda da açık durumda.
FERAH MEKAN
Beyazıt Meydanı’nın son şeklini bilenler bilir. Beyazıt Camii, İstanbul Üniversitesi, Vezneciler girişi arasındaki meydanda kocaman kaldırım taşlarıyla döşelidir. Sanırım anarşi hareketleri sırasında sökülemesin diye böyle kaba saba iri taşlar döşenmiş. Burada yürümek bir azaptır. Ama kitap fuarı, mekanı sevimli hale getirmiş.
Brandaya benzer malzemeyle üzeri ve yanları kapalı. Modern bir dizayna sahip, içerisi şık ve ferah. Sıcak olacağını sanıyordum, değilmiş. Klimalarla serinletiliyor. Gezip alış veriş yapmak kolay ve zevkli. 163 standta, 150’den fazla yayınevi ürünlerini sergiliyor. Bu ferah mekana katkıları için İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi’ne teşekkürler.
Fuarda her gün saat 18’de bir fikir ve sanat adamının sohbeti var. Benim gittiğim gün, sevdiğim bir yazarın, Beşir Ayvazoğlu’nun sohbeti vardı. İlgi fazla, bu işe ayrılan yer tamamen doluydu.
Beşir Ayvazoğlu Beyazıt Meydanı’nın yakın tarihini anlattı. Eski Çınaraltı’nı, Küllük Kahvesi’ni, Emin Efendi Lokantası’nı, bu lokantaya bakıp bakıp “Döner kebap dönmez olsun” diyen Arif Dino’yu, devrin meşhur kişileri arasındaki ilişkileri dile getirdi.
KİTABINI YAZDI
Beşir Bey aslında buranın kitabını yazmıştı: “Üçüncü Tepede Hayat / Beyazıt’ın Derin Tarihi” adını taşıyan eser Kubbealtı neşriyatı arasında çıktı. Sohbetten sonra Kubbealtı standında bu kitabını imzaladı.
“Üçüncü Tepede Hayat” basit bir semt tarihi değil; mekanları, bu mekanlardan geçen şairleri, yazarları, sanatkarlarıyla bir kültürün tarihidir. Anlaşıldığına göre Beyazıt Meydanı, altın çağını Cumhuriyet devrinin ilk kırk yılında yaşamış. Eser “Bilgilerin üst üste yığıldığı bir kitap değil, elinize aldığınızda bitirmeden bırakamayacağınız roman tadında” ve yer yer resimli bir kitaptır.
Beşir Ayvazoğlu’nun yeni çıkan Ateş Denizi adlı eserinden ileride ayrıca söz edeceğim. Belgesel sadakatinde, fakat roman tadı ve akıcılığında bir kitap. 1934-35’teki musiki ve üniversite reformu etrafında gelişen olaylar, bu hadiseler karşısında aydınların tutumu, o dönemin siyasi baskıları ve açmazları anlatılıyor.
