Hz. Mevlana eserleri, fikirleri ve adına kurulan tarikat ile 750 senedir tesirini devam ettirmektedir. Tasavvuf düşüncesinde, musikimizde, şiirimizde ve edebiyatımızda Mevlana etkisi tartışılmaz bir gerçektir. Kendisi kabul etmek istemese de o bir şairdir, kitaplarını şiir tarzındadır. Onun için olsa gerek, ta baştan beri şairlerimize hep ilham kaynağı olmuştur.
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar şöyle anlatıyor: “Bir gün Yahya Kemal’e neydi bu eskilerin hayatı acaba? Nasıl yaşarlardı? diye sormuştum. Gülerek ‘Gayet basit, dedi, pilav yiyerek ve Mesnevi okuyarak.'(…) Birkaç yıl sonra Bağlarbaşı’ndan Karacaahmet’e doğru inen yolda, kimbilir hangi vesile ile canlanan maziyi yakalama arzusuyla aynı düşünceye döndü. ‘Medeniyetimiz Mesnevi ve cihat medeniyetiydi’ dedi.”

Mevlana ve Mevlevilik Türk edebiyatında birer okuldur. Tarih boyunca bu okullardan pek çok şair ve sufi yetişmiştir. Bunlardan birisi de Arif Nihat Asya’dır. Bayrak ve hamaset şairi Arif Nihat (1904-1975) aynı zamanda çağımızda bir Mevlevi olarak bilinir. O bir değil, pek çok şiirinde Mevlana’yı anlatmıştır.
Bir rubaisinde Şair, Mevlana’nın manevi sofrasında bir misafir gibidir. Bu cömert sofrada onun maneviyatı ile beslendiğini görüyoruz:
“Bir sofradayım, azım çoğum Mevlana/ Dursam, yürüsem batım, doğum Mevlana/ Yarin sesi, yarin sözü, yarin yüzüsün/ Sen yoksan eğer ben de yoğum Mevlana!..”
Arif Nihat Asya, “Gönül” adlı rubaisinde Mevlana’yı kendisiyle ilişkilendirerek anlatır. Ona gönlünün aktığını beyan ediyor. Gönül verilen kişi, kendisine gönül verene himmet eder. “Arif” ismiyle de bir güzel tevriye sanatı gösteren şair himmet beklemektedir:
“Neyler susamış ruha ilim, Mevlana/ Artık, ne deva var, ne hekim, Mevlana/ Arifler gönlüyse bu dünyada yerin/ Dol gönlüme… ben de Arif’im, Mevlana”

A.N. Asya’nın şu şiiri ne kadar hareketli ve kıvraktır. Kelimeler adeta sema eden dervişler gibi raks etmektedir:
“Her etek tennuredir/ Her satır bir suredir/ Her eda mana demek/ Konya Mevlana demek.
Gel ki yollar boş değil/ Her nefes ney, her yeşil/ Kubbe-i Harda demek/ Konya Mevlana demek.
Türk, alırken Asya’yı/ Mevleviler Konya’yı/ Etmiş istila demek/ Konya Mevlana demek.
Burada yer gök ihtizaz/ Burada boş dönmez niyaz/ Burada yoktur “la!” demek/ Konya Mevlana demek.

Pek çok şair Mevlana ile ilgili şiir yazmasına rağmen, Mevlana düşüncesini ne kadar içselleştirdikleri bilinemez. Arif Nihat Asya ise onu bütün benliğinde hisseden ve yaşayan biridir. Bu konudaki şiirleri, her türlü gösterişten uzak ve bütünüyle samimi olduğundan has ve sahici şiirlerdir.22
