gönlünden yakalardı. Cuma günleri İzmir’in her yerinden gelen meraklı, kaliteli ve
enetelektüel seviyesi yüksek bir cemaate sahipti.
Kitapta Hocayla ilgili hatıralarla birlikte onun hutbe ve vaaz metinlerinin 50 tanesi yer
almaktadır. Bunların ışığında okuyucu, 20 yüzyılın son çeyreğinde modern İzmir’in
toplumsal hayatına ait ipuçları bulacaktır. Kendisinin din görevlisi olarak uzun yıllar hizmet
ettiği Güzelyalı semti, şehrin pek çok yeri gibi muhafazakâr değildir. Bu ortamda, bir din
görevlisinin bir semt ve bir cemaat arasında kurduğu farklı ilişkiler, sosyolojik ve psikolojik
boyutlarıyla da üzerinde düşünmeye değerdir.
